THE PRO WRESTLERS

Our first fosters of 2022 were a trio of bully x boxer mixed-breed pups. The entire litter of 7 was surrendered due to their poor health and the owner being overwhelmed once the puppies moved from the potato phase to the barking, pooping, toddler dog stage. Two of the pups were in very poor shape and went on to medical foster. We initially took the remaining 5 for the first night until another foster was able to take 2. Josh picked the theme professional wrestlers for them, and it was a perfect fit! The seven names picked were Flair, Hogan, Rousey, Bliss, Austin, Chyna and Rock. Our little trio pictured above were Flair, the little black boy, Rousey- the fawn girl with the dark face, and Bliss- the fawn girl with the white face markings. They were a fun bunch very intelligent and were quickly adopted!

SNOWY

Snowy is a border collie x Pyrenees mix who was born deaf. This was the first time we took in a foster who was already adopted! Unfortunately both her foster home and her adoptive home had vacations planned at the same time! It was no problem making room for Snowy to land while her new forever family was on vacation! Her first foster family had done the heavy lifting of house training (mostly) and beginning obedience using sign language. This beauty has a wonderful life ahead of her.

GIGI

Gigi came to us through a friend, who was her first rescuer. She had lived her first two years as an outside only dog, which is unusual for a small ( 10lb) dog in this part of the country. She was extremely fearful of adults, and was very underweight. With her first rescuer she learned to trust, and learned the comfort and security of life as an indoor dog. However Gigi was still often fearful of strangers and could be reactive, and unfortunately due to unforeseeable changes in the lives of her owners, Gigi's needs were not being met in her home and her rescuer sought to give her a better life. And boy did Gigi land in the perfect home for her. Her adoptive family loved her instantly on seeing her photo and were willing to take on life with a higher needs fearful dog. She never has to be home alone, and will know nothing but love and being spoiled.

SHRIMP & HER SHRIMPLETS

Shrimp came to us through another rescue. She had been dumped in a high kill shelter days before being due to give birth. She had her puppies in the shelter and was transferred to a foster home from there. At 5 weeks old the puppies and their sweet momma made the journey to stay with us while they awaited their forever homes. Unfortunately Shrimp had some congenital defects to her front limbs and while in our care underwent an amputation, in order to help her move more easily with her remaining limbs. In spite of her deformity, she was a spunky girl and extremely dedicated mother. Shrimp and all of her pups were adopted by retirees, and are living the lives of luxury!

COOPER

Cooper is a young poodle x retriever mix. He was surrendered by his family because he and their other poodle mix did not get along. Cooper is quite fearful of other dogs so we believe he may have been the loser in the conflicts with his former housemate. Cooper came to us underweight and in need of grooming. In true "doodle" fashion, he doesn't quite live up to the dream many people have when they get a doodle. Cooper inherited the curly coat gene from the poodle and the heavy shedding shorter double coat from the golden retriever, making him a heavy seasonal shedder. Not hypo-allergenic, and low shedding at all, like many other poodle mixes. Cooper also has a developmental delay called Cerebellar Hypoplasia. He is a silly sweet boy with uncoordinated movement, but all in all he is a very easy dog to live with. Cooper ended 2022 with us, but we hope he will land a wonderful home soon!
